KANDIS WRIGLEY - FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT

Kandis Wrigley, Founder and President of San Juan Ventures, has had a longstanding interest in sustainability as a Seattle, Washington native where she learned the words ‘reclaimed’ and ‘organic’ well before they were mainstream design terms. Her first connection to Bali in the early 2000‘s presented the opportunity to merge her interest in international business with her passion for sustainability and natural materials and led to the beginning of San Juan Ventures. The culture of work ethic, spirituality, honor of family and traditions of craftsmanship all touched upon all aspects of her personal interests. The international hospitality aspect of SJV comes naturally given her extensive travel and exposure to some of the world’s best hotel brands.

Luc Poirier – Production Manager (Bali) and Design Manager (US)

Luc was 10 years old when he sketched his first project. It was an underwater house that he drew for his father (who ran an architecture studio in the family home). To his biggest surprise,  the client didn't approved his drawing!   Perhaps this is what made Luc realize that he still had a lot of things to learn which eventually led him to Olivier de Serres school in Paris to graduate as an industrial designer.
Despite his love for French culture and art, his quench for discovery led him to see what was beyond the horizon. He bought his first backpack at 18 and went to study in the United States, to discover Greece and Italy and finally made the big step to Asia where he arrived in 2000.A few years later, while working with a hospitality firm in Singapore, he crossed paths with Kandis Wrigley and San Juan Ventures and they worked together on a project in Manila and maintained a dialogue which eventually led to his current position.
Luc is our Production Manager and runs the show when Kandis is not in Bali.  He wears many hats (the French like hats)  but very clear on his biggest joy in his passion for design and primary role with SJV to realize dreams of other designers and translate their ideas to manufacturing reality.
He invites all designers to visit SJV Bali so he can give you a personal tour and will introduce you to his two dogs and the best French food in Bali (it does exist!).
When he is not wearing one of his SJV hats, you will find him enjoying classical music, treasuring family and working on that submarine house concept!

Vincent Go – Procurement Manager

Mr. V

"Here is Vincent aka Mr. V!!

At 6’3” he is the tallest among the SJV crew and among most of Bali!
He can’t go undercover well and we can always spot him in the crowd when we need him.
He may be the ‘big guy’ but he also has a big heart and a huge smile.
As Part of the SJV Crew, he stands as Senior Project Manager overseeing many key projects and will soon expand his role to Project Coordinator to manage the overall project timelines and work flow between design and manufacturing.
Vincent graduated with a Bachelors degree in Architecture from Petra Christian University Surabaya and also a Diploma degree in Piano Performing Arts from A.B.R.S.M. (Associated Board of the Royal School of Music -  London). We are still waiting for him to put on a private concert!
He believes in good will, persistence and positive thinking in everything.  He is an admitted Apple products addict and movie freak!  Music has played the biggest part of his life and he is a Jazz lover, Classical Prodigy and biggest fan of Casiopea.
Give Vincent a fine tune, good coffee and fast Internet and he will definitely be content for a long long time.  He wants to travel and live somewhere else down the road and thinks Luc’s hometown in France looks pretty nice as an option….”

Indri Koesmawan – Senior Project Manager

Indri is the full package.  Serious full time coffee lover, passionate interior designer and endearing project manager.  She shows all of these sides at SJV where she works as a Senior Project Manager liaising between our design and manufacturing teams and our valuable clients and their projects.
Indri would never brag, but she graduated cum laude from the Institute of Art Indonesia where she earned degree of Interior Designer.  She brought her extensive design discipline skills to SJV where our clients appreciate your understanding of their projects whether it is high end residence in USA or a hotel in Saudi Arabia.
She is proud to be part of SJV team and describes her coworkers as solid, talented, smart and who love to laugh, help each other and “don’t bite”.   When Indri is not clocked in with SJV, her passions include hot yoga (easily accomplished in Bali!), dark chocolate (she and Kandis get along well her) and spending weekends with her mom over coffee.
Indri’s current goals are:  Make her parents happy and proud, live and eat more healthy, lose a couple kgs  and start making her own closet collections of perfume.
Her mantra : do what you love and love what you do. Less grumbling, always be grateful.

Emma was born in Semarang, Central Java and  earned a Bachelors Degree in Humanities from Diponegoro University, Semarang and also has a Diploma degree in English Literature from the same University.   Her refined communication skills are a result of this strong education.

Emma says that working in Bali has been high on Emma's wish list in recent years and the opportunity to work with a progressive company is a big motivation in many ways.   She admits that motorcycle survival skills learned in Semarang have been a useful skill in support of her relocation. As she settles in to the island lifestyle, Emma enjoys Balinese culture, food and humor and she looks forward to exploring more of Indonesia.

That is the reason she moved back to Bali and decided to join with SJV after she spent more than a year working in Flores. For Veronica,  this position is challenging yet still a fun job. She loves to deal with people from all over the world through clear communication.
Her laugh is beautifully unique and enjoyed in the office and she feels joyful to sing and dance to any kind of music genre (restricted in her room only). Veronica is grateful with her life and is happy to give her smile to people she meets as a favor to her life.

She absolutely loves to read books and jokes that her thick glasses give that point away.
Ririn has a very strong and spiritual personality.  She is always seen with a big smile on her face and and she is full of love and empathy to other people.  She admits to open tears and smiles moved by worship songs or from watching a Korean Drama.
As a vegan, Ririn motivates our health at SJV.  (She is the reason our staff meals now have more vegetables on the menu!)   and dreams to have a garden full of vegetables in her future house, so she can make sure that all of her cooking ingredients are fresh from her own garden.

Daryanto – Engineer

Please meet Daryanto, our "CNC Guru” … calculator, operator, and fixer.   He is a man of few words but they are chosen carefully to be important and relevant.
At SJV, he holds a very important role in maintaining the operation of our beloved CNC machine and the technical programming.  His talent lies in working with the design and production team  in developing the best CNC manufacturing solution for our clients and their projects.   As a result of his proven skills in this area, he has earned the title of 'machine man’ because of his ongoing  contributions to help staff or the company to fix ANYTHING within SJV that needs fixing.  We love him for that.
Daryanto has a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from Trisakti University at Jakarta, Indonesia. He loves to play guitar, watch TV, play strategic games, and read books. When it comes to food, he is a huge salad and noodle fan!

Aluysius Sulistiyanto – Senior Designer

Meet Sulis.  ALWAYS with a cool baseball cap.   He admits that he cannot dance and he cannot ride horses…. so he writes poetry instead.
He likes drawing and daydreaming.   He is extremely artistic and learning to paint strong emotions using watercolors.  As part of SJV Bali, he is responsible for all shop drawings for client approval and factory production.  He has Bachelor degree in Interior Design from PIKA Semarang.
His personal belief is that it is not "Hard 2 Face" Reality and draw a small secret nice smile behind you. He loves ethnic music and the sounds of waterfalls.

Ari Darmastuti - Junior Drafter

Ari is a local Balinese and she helps to keep us connected to the community and its strong traditions and is highly motivated by all things artistic and creative.
She may seem a bit shy, but don’t let that fool you.  She literally loves learning anything, meeting people and embracing challenges.  She just does it quietly!
Ari is a Junior Drafter, she produces shop drawings with Sulis and the Pre-Production Team. Ari has Bachelor Degree in Interior Design from Indonesia Art Institute Bali.
Outside of the office, she enjoys photography and making terrariums.  Bali is a perfect climate for that!  She assembles and grows tiny plants like cactus, succulent or moss and takes side trips to the forest or river to take pictures and collect plant samples for her projects.  We are trying to get her to produce a terrarium for our office!

I Wayan Eka Laksana - Junior Product Designer

I Wayan Eka Laksana Satiaguna is His full name…very Balinese.
Just call Him Ekala if it is too complicated for you (that is what we call him!) His father calls him Kayong as his nickname and no one really knows how he came up with it.  Ekala likes to assume it is because “Kayong” means “Successful Person” in the local language.   He hopes that his father sees his success and that is his prayer to him.
Like Indri and Ari, Ekala graduated from the Institute of Art, Indonesia, and received a Bachelors Degree in Interior Designer.
He remembers the day he got excited about interior design at a design exhibition at his university.  He saw beautiful hand drawings using Prisma Color Marker and it impressed him so much he knew he wanted to pursue this career.
Later, he learned that those drawings he so admired  were actually made by a Design Communication Student and not by an Interior Design Student.  So tragic at the time but he remained on the path of Interior Design!
His role at SJV Bali is Junior Drafter but don’t let the title fool you.  His works as a technical designer which is quite challenging and it gives him so many opportunities to explore his capabilities in product design and expand his knowledge of construction language.
His skillful two hands not only help him to draw concepts for SJV’s important Design Clarification documents but also to create art work.   just throw him styrofoam and He will reshape it into any kind of mockup he needs!
Ekala doesn’t have specific favorite songs, movies, or food, because he realizes that to know everything he need to love and appreciate everything, and this is his path towards his most important goal.  Happiness.

Hadi Prayitno - Sourcing & Accessories

SJV’s accessories guru and one of our sourcing team for cool raw materials and talented craftsman in Bali for your projects.
Hadi admits that he finally found a place where he fit in when he joined SJV.  He was born and grew up in Jember, a small city in east java where he knew he wanted more but didn’t quote know what…...
He later graduated from the Academy of Foreign Languages “Bhakti Pertiwi” with a Major in English which serves him well in an American company.  At SJV he enjoys sourcing new products and materials to help the PMs and Production department in finding pieces that our clients love.  These can include one-of-a-kind pieces of antiquity, unique sculpture, accessories or raw material for trunk tables.
On the weekends, he likes riding motorcycles and driving (as if he doesn’t get enough of that in his sourcing expeditions!)  In free time he enjoys maintaining his vehicles through repair or modification and dreams of one day rebuilding an old car into great full speed vehicle.

Stephanie Ribka - Human Resources and Accounting Manager

Hello to Stephanie!

Stephanie just joined us early 2016  as Human Resources and Accounting Manager. Big title for a big job.  Basically, she keeps all of us in line and following the house rules….  Not an easy task given all of the different cultures and backgrounds in our small office!  Add to that her important roles of project accounting, inventory and coordination with our US bookkeeper and she is very busy.
After graduating from Brawijaya University in Accounting, Stephanie moved to Bali nearly 7 years ago. She’s interested in language and culture and actually speaks some French.   (She jokes that only our French Design Manager, Luc,  can tell if she speaks it well enough.  The rest of us have no idea!).
Outside of work, she’s involved in theater productions and rehearsals including a current project to bring on stage a French classic script that will be delivered in Indonesian. One day you can wish her, “Break a leg!”
